The Swedish 2026 Elections
Our 2026 election coverage will focus on the implications of the campaign and its outcome for Sweden’s governance, policy direction and role within the EU and the wider international community.

With Sweden’s elections approaching, Mundus International is preparing a comprehensive programme to help the international community follow, analyse and interpret the political developments. This will be the fourth Swedish election that Mundus covers, continuing our tradition of providing clear, contextual analysis.
Our 2026 coverage will focus on the implications of the campaign and its outcome for Sweden’s governance, policy direction, and role within the EU and the wider international community.
Mundus News Sweden will provide daily updates throughout the campaign. Coverage will highlight issues of particular interest to embassies - including Sweden’s foreign policy priorities, defence and security, and approach to EU cooperation.
Mundus Weekly will have dedicated election coverage in the Week Ahead (highlighting key election events), and Political News (tracking parliamentary and party developments). We will also have a weekly Poll of Polls.
The Monthly Policy Review will provide in-depth analysis of the campaign, policies, and election dynamics. Our coverage will include a comprehensive scene-setter for the Swedish elections, a review of the issues shaping the campaign with an outline of party positions, and detailed examination of how the elections are run. Post-election, the Monthly Policy Review will offer a wrap-up of the results - highlighting the major issues emerging from the vote, coalition prospects, and potential cabinet line-up.
Finally, for Prime+ members, Mundus will host a dedicated series of roundtables offering exclusive discussions throughout the election cycle:
-
Sweden Votes 2026 (early 2026) – a scene-setting briefing on voter sentiment, key campaign issues, and what embassies should watch for.
-
Sweden Decides: Scenarios (pre-election, late summer 2026) - exploring potential electoral outcomes and coalition scenarios.
-
Sweden’s New Political Landscape (post-election, September 2026) – analysing the results, possible cabinet formation, and implications for Sweden’s international engagement.
These sessions will be complemented by two special Policy Pulse briefings — one on the eve of the election, providing last-minute analysis of polling trends and likely outcomes, and one immediately after election day, offering rapid interpretation of the results.
Through this full suite of publications and events, Mundus International will ensure embassies are equipped with the context, analysis, and foresight needed to understand Sweden’s 2026 election - and what it means for their engagement with the country in the years ahead.
